Best Buy is selling Ubuntu Linux.
Yep, they are for a price of $20.
The pricing is fair considering its a business.
Though Geek Squad is willing to install it for a low low price of $130.
Installing Ubuntu Linux is probably one of the most easiest of experiences you can have installing an application. I've had more pain trying to install Microsoft Office or Internet Explorer 7 than i did Ubuntu Linux.
Say your thoughts. In my opinion this is great premotion for linux in general to the public. Though I wish they would of put a bit more thought into it as there are a few things they could of done to better introduce it.

I love Ubuntu, but I don't think Linux will ever be ready for the public.Thewindblows wrote:Yep, they are for a price of $20.

Why?
All these god damn linux distros. NO ONE can agree one File system. They got to do .yum, .deb, .rpm, .pup, ext.
The reason Windows has been so successful is because of the simplicity of the .exe file and the .exe installers.
I use Windows XP, Vista, and Ubuntu (yes a tri-boot) and I love all of them, but.... things are getting to complicated now. I say we all go back to Windows 98! DOS (9x) rules!!!!

It runs great. IT's just like running the os by itself.
Re: Best Buy is selling Ubuntu Linux.
That would be the Dell Inspiron 1420n.
Dell's Config Page
I agree with the package stigma. At the very core, they're all the same with the same Linux kernal. But all the forks are maddening. Canonical's pushing of Ubuntu into the public eye definitely gets it some headway. I like Slackware myself, but Ubuntu suffices for a great many things.
